Over EUR 100 million made available from EU Progress Microfinance so far

Over €100 million have been made available to 21 different microcredit providers in 15 countries across the EU, amounting to around 50% of the funds available under the European Progress Microfinance Facility.

SP Fund Phase Two launched!

This month, the MFC launched phase two of its Social Performance Fund project for networks, supported by the Ford Foundation and implemented in collaboration with the Social Performance Task Force. This 24-month phase has two key components: awareness-raising and standards implementation, which together are designed to facilitate the broad scale-up of the Universal Standards for Social Performance Management (USSPM).

MFC organizes customer protection and financial education peer exchange

In December 2012, a high-level delegation of the National Bank of Tajikistan visited the Central Bank of Armenia to study customer protection regulation, market conduct supervision and financial education system and programs. The trip also included a visit to the Armenian Financial Ombudsmen and the management of “ACRA”, a local credit bureau. Participants reflected that it was an extremely productive and timely visit, and appreciated both MFC’s initiative in making it happen, as well as the support of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI).

MFC launches new SP Fund case study series

This month, the MFC launched a new case study series to highlight the achievements of its Social Performance (SP) Fund grantees. This 24-month “Start-up” project supported 13 national networks across Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe (with limited or no SPM experience) to implement one-year country-level start-up projects on social performance management (SPM) and reporting.

European Investment Fund (EIF) has announced the Call for Expression of Interest to select microcredit providers (banking and non-banking institutions engaged in microfinance) to benefit from JASMINE Technical Assistance in 2013.

29 MFIs and Banks participate in the third round of the JASMINE Project

In August 2012 MFC started its technical assistance activities for 29 microfinance institutions (MFIs) and banks which play an important role in providing access to finance to micro and small businesses in Europe.

Social Performance Reporting recognition for VF AzerCredit

VF AzerCredit was the only Azerbaijani organization to receive a GOLD Social Performance Reporting award from the MIX this year. The award was clear recognition of AzerCredit’s strong commitment to social performance management and transparent reporting.
